Reform's deputy leader has drawn criticism from nurses, medical experts and green campaigners after he dismissed efforts to address the climate crisis and suggested people should embrace the benefits of recent heatwaves.

Richard Tice told a press conference on Monday that he considered it "arrogant" to attempt to prevent the climate emergency, and encouraged people to focus on positive aspects such as improved English wine production.

The remarks prompted a backlash from medical professionals and environmental groups, who disagreed with his characterisation of climate action efforts.
