Armed men intercepted a vehicle carrying three police officers on the Ocaña-Cúcuta road in Norte de Santander, according to video footage of the incident. The uniformed officers disappeared during their journey between the two municipalities.

The three kidnapped officers were identified as Major Fredy Alexis Russi González, patrol officer Edinson Yesid Medina Traslaviña and patrol officer Erica Tatiana Monroy Hurtado, members of the Dijín. The vehicle in which they were travelling was left abandoned in the area.

The Ministry of Defence categorically rejected the possible kidnapping of the officers and stated that it is mobilising its full capacity to address the case.
